Making It Through Monday

Monday, September 21, 2015

A very, very loooong time ago, I decided to make Mondays modest - and the birth of a weekly modest style post was born. While my style has evolved a bit since then and I'm still crazy about fashion, the entire execution of Modest Monday posts was always the most stressful process as any fashion blogger who has a new post go live at the beginning of the week can understand.

Firstly, it involves much aforethought and planning either before or during the weekend and Sunday night always involves fine-tuning the details of the post or a little more photo-editing. Either way, it gradually became apparent that due to various details and scheduling conflicts with my life as a student, that for me personally, Monday style posts aren't working out right now.

And that's okay. There's a season for everything and hopefully they'll be back in the near future. But for now, for today, I'm celebrating making it through Monday.

Call it "making Mondays meaningful," like Bailey Jean Robert's new mission.

Call it the Monday Breakfast Society.

Call it the Benedict Monday Club.

Why Benedict? Because Benedict Cumberbatch is fantastically wonderful in every way and makes everything, even Mondays better.

Maybe this will be a thing each week...Manly Mondays, where I celebrate making it through the day and take a look at some fabulous, gorgeous, talented guys who make the world a little more stylish each day.

You'd much rather see that than pictures of me and my style, right?

Yep, thought so.

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

It's been quite a while since I've shared a real life Wednesday post - since today is slow + sun-filled + windy, here you go...

Wednesdays feel like a little pocket of quiet + peace in the midst of the week now...I only have an afternoon class on Wednesdays, so it's now becoming a comforting routine of a day. I can catch up on sleep or wake up early, enjoying the richness of a few hours before class...slid out of bed and pad across the floor to my newest best friend, the coffee maker, and putter around while the slow, steady drip of my morning brew mingles with the sound of soft jazz.

I crack open the blinds just enough to let the soft overcast light of a rainy day filter through and retreat to my cozy little couch with my laptop and books. Cardigans and fuzzy socks and messy ponytails are staples on these days.

Lunch is leisurely, leaving time for a bit of reading and even a catnap, then off to work and the slow rhythm of productivity. Cleaning and tidying up, reading for class, tweaking blog post drafts, pausing to work on bits and pieces of fiction when inspiration strikes, carefully curating my Pinterest boards, sending emails, and organizing my planners.

And tea. There is always tea.

Now all I need is a happily purring cat, and my happiness shall be complete.

Wednesdays are good days indeed.

Talking About Being Unbreakable on Periscope Today// 4 PM CENTRAL TIME

Friday, September 4, 2015

I'm doing something brand new (and a little terrifying) + hopping on Periscope for the first time today - for those of you who haven't tried it yet, Periscope is a live streaming video app.

I'll be on there today (@gracekdalton) at 4pm Central Time to talk about being unbreakable. About breathing in the weekend and hanging onto God in the midst of all this craziness.

If you've had a rough week and need to hear some words of grace (no pun intended, ha) and be reminded that life goes on, then download the app and come say hi!

There may or may not be a dance party to start it off - so stop by!
