Modest Monday: Falling for Fall

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Just joining the Modest Monday party? Here's the original post. Each Monday, I post a modest, stylish outfit that I wear along with some thoughts on modesty.

Why? Because I believe you don't have to sacrifice fashion for purity.
 Modesty does not = frumpy.
These are outfits I really, truly wear in my day-to-day life. I'm a girl determined to live a life of purity, modesty, and plenty of style. :)

Happy Halloween! Or happy official fall, if you're not a Halloween person...

Y'all, fall is finally here. It's cold and windy and quite chilly in the morning on the way to class.

And I love it!

I am such a fall baby, and while I did appreciate the warm, balmy days of summer, I've been raring to break out the scarves, boots, and indulge in all things pumpkin. Now I can!

Shirt: Gap
Skirt: thrifted
Cardiagan: thrifted
Scarf: Wal-Mart
Shoes: Payless
Leggings: thrifted
Beanie: local store
Purse: Ross

This outfit was so comfortable and stylish...I started with green and gold, then brought in the other hues and somehow my outfit fit the fall theme perfectly!

This burgundy cardigan is a favorite, as anyone who knows me can testify. I wear it probably twice a week. Although you can't see it underneath the scarf, I'm also wearing a dark sage green Gap shirt. I may have waxed eloquent on the store before, but I love their clothes. Soft, stylish, and breathable with a bit of stretch...always. (Gap's prices, though? Not so much. Most of my Gap pieces either came from the clearance rack or thrift stores.)

I am so in love with pumpkin. It's definitely one of my favorite vegetables: what other produce can be savory, sweet, fabulous in chilis, pies, muffins, scones, as well as serve as a centerpiece and carving entertainment?

(And yes, people. Pumpkin is an important accessory with any fall outfit.)

When it comes to high heels, wedges are my shoe of choice. They give me height as well as balance. And unlike stilettos, I can walk quickly in them! Any cute shoes that don't kill my feet are a plus. These are versatile enough for dressy outfits as well as more casual daytime ones.

A pop of green!

Red nails are always are scarves. I've worn this one before and I love how the rich butter-gold adds a splash to both outfits.

Whether you're trick-or-treating or spending the evening in, why not dress up in a cute outfit to celebrate the fall and the end of October?

November's tomorrow! I feel like I say this every three or four weeks, but where did the month go????

Time to stock up on pumpkin.

Thanksgiving may be peeking its head around the corner, but this girl intends to soak up every moment of this delightful season.

Happy fall, y'all.

  1. I loved your fall inspired outfit. I really like the combination yellow + purple - it's really beautiful. I also have those peep toes shoes - they're great! xx

    1. Thanks, Paula! So do I - there's something about royal purple with gold that's very striking. (Although I have to be careful because those are LSU's school colors and I'm not a huge Tiger fan). And too funny about the shoes! :)

  2. Hey Raewyn!

I've been joining you in Modest Monday the past few weeks. Thanks so much for starting this! I love participating in it :) Also, I love seeing you wear thrifted clothes. It's the best not having to spend a bunch of money to look cute! Modest spending and modest dressing go hand in hand awesomely :)

Here is my most recent MM post:

    take care!

    1. Chely, hello again! Thank you so much for joining me - you always look so lovely and feminine; I never fail to love your outfits. And glad to hear you're a fellow thrift store-lover! :)
